Used Car Branded Title Disclosure

A little over two years ago I purchased a used vehicle from a AZ dealer for over $30K. Recently I went to trade that vehicle in on another car, in a different state (UT), and I was told the car had a branded title (they printed a CarFax report) and the car's value was less than half of book ($12K less). Shouldn't the original selling dealer have had me sign a statement that I understood the car had a branded title? I do believe that when I purchased the car the dealer mentioned that the car was purchased by the manufacture and the problem was resolved. However, I have nothing in writing, and the car was financed through the dealership and has had the full factory warranty. Since then I have moved the financing to my bank with no problem. Do I have any recourse? I have called the dealer and they have said that they would have no problem buying the car back. In fact they would even pick it up. I have initiated two phone calls, and they have stated not to worry and that they would get back to me, and send me any documentation that I signed about this. However, I'm not getting a response.

Take the car to them or have it delivered.

You need to get all of this in writing.

You can contact the state attorney general in the state where you bought the car, explain the issue, and ask for assistance.

Many states AG will assist citizens in your predicament.

The AZ MVD has a webpage with lots of information on salvaged vehicles.

By law, the dealer is required to disclose the vehicle as having been salvaged.

The AZ MVD has to have inspected the vehicle and declared it "road worthy".

The AZ MVD may be your easiest place to start with your complaint!
