This is about a used boat. We sold a 1996 boat we told buyers everything we knew what was wrong with the boat that we knew from our knowledge we never took it to a dealer my husband works on stuff. We sold as is they took it to a dealer and they told them about numerous problems we had no idea about now they want to sue us for cost of repairs. We don't know what to do.

You do NOTHING, say NOTHING, don't respond, admit NOTHING, because used vehicle and boat sales are always AS-IS, BUYER BEWARE, etc. etc. etc...

now they want to sue us

There is no "want to sue" there is only sue or not sue.

You aren't being sued if you haven't been served a summons and complaint.

If threats of a lawsuit scare you then take the boat back and give him a refund.

If threats of a lawsuit don't scare you then tell him to pound sand and stop talking to him.

It's that simple.

Used boat & "as is" sale - means "buyer beware". The buyer should have had the boat checked out before buying. They might not even sue you. If they do, then you go to court & give your "defense." Of course, you can take the boat back & give them their money back or go ahead & pay for the cost of repairs. Your decision.
