Data Reveals The Midwest Stays Honest While Coastal States Rack Up Fraud and Romance Scams

In A Nutshell

  • Nevada ranks as America's most deceitful state, with nearly one in five residents admitting they lie often and almost 60,000 fraud reports filed in 2024
  • Rhode Island has the highest percentage of self-admitted liars at 40%, nearly double the national average of 22%
  • Florida lost over $92.5 million to romance scams in one year and leads the nation in both fraud and identity theft reports per capita
  • North Dakota claims the title of most trustworthy state, with zero survey respondents admitting to lying frequently and minimal fraud or identity theft
Americans tell an average of 11 lies per week. More than half have been cheated on. And in some parts of the country, dishonesty has become something of a local specialty.

Philisophially speaking... If a group of people admit that they have lied in the past, would that make them fundamentally honest for telling the truth about their fibbing?

And yeah... I have big doubts that the folks of ND never lied. That doesn't ring true. Even if it was something like "No, darling! Those jeans don't make your ass look fat!" or "It's not the size that matters, babe" kinda a lie, it's still a lie.
