For the last 6 years, we have been renting a box at our local UPS Store (used to be Mail Boxes Etc) in Fair Lawn, NJ.

Now, our local US Post Office is demanding a photocopy of our driver's licenses, for their files. Otherwise, they will stop delivering our mail to us, at the UPS Store.

I'm highly concerned about this. As a personal security practice, we never allow anyone to have a photocopy of our driver's licenses.

Must we provide the US Post Office with this photocopy? Or must they accept our simply showing our driver's licenses to them, but not allowing them to photocopy them?

Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

The US Post Office is a government agency. Do you think they couldn't get hold of a copy of other items you have on file in the federal governmental system if they needed such? What is your concern with the security risk?
