What is the name of your state? Texas

Hi,
I was planning to move in to a new apartnment over the week end. But yesterday in the same apartment complex there was aburglary and two laptops were stolen. Can I back out of the lease?

1) I have paid the advance and processing fee(willing to forefeit that)
2) I have signed the lease
3) I havent taken possession of Keys or Moved in.

Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Unless the robbery illustrates a serious security problem that the landlord is unwilling to remedy, I would doubt it. As it is I would doubt this could give you any valid reason to break the lease. You would probably do best to speak to the landlord to see what you can work out since you already have a signed lease. Note, you may want to find someone else to take the place as soon as possible so that you can at least present the landlord with a good reason to allow you to walk away.
