Alcohol & Drugs: MIP, MIC, Intoxication Underage Possession of Alcohol with the Intent to Consume- New York State

IN New York state i was at a concert and a bike cop saw me open a beer. Before i could take a sip of it the cop grabbed the beer and made us dump the rest out. He gave me a court summons and a mail plea. I know the maximum penalty is a 50 dollar fine and an alcohol education class, so im just going to plea guilty and get it over with but im wondering if i should go to court to plea guilty or just mail it in. My main priority is that my parents do not find out about this incident
