Assault & Battery tragedy in my life

My fiance was arrested and charged with assault 3 and endangering the welfare of a child. This is a domestic assault case and I am the victim. The tragedy is that the D.A. is going for jail time which is a one year minimum. This however will take everything away from my childrens future due to him being the major supporter of the family. The case has not gone to trial and I need to know what will happen if it does?

1 year minimum? So, I assume it's a felony.

Let the prosecutor know full and well that you are going to be an adverse witness to their case.
