A police officer gave me a ticket for not coming to a "complete stop at stop sign". The officer was later contacted and he decided to drop the ticket or simply to disregard the ticket. It was thrown out... Now, 41 months later I have been contacted by the small town and have been told to pay the ticket in 10 days. Is there a statue of limitations on Traffic tickets in the state of Alabama? This is the first I have heard from ticket in the 41 months. Do I have to pay the ticket...after 41 months?

What do you mean the ticket was "thrown out?" Was this in court? Did the officer not show up and case dismissed? If so, then the statute of limitations isn't an issue, the case having already been decided is. I'm getting the feeling that this isn't the case -- the officer told you he's dropping it? I'm not sure what this means.
