I got a letter from a company that says my domain infringes on their trademark (NOT registered trademark) , but to me is descriptive term that can't be trademark. is a dating domain, like Iranian Personals. Can a name like "Iranian Personals" be trademark? Isn't that a descriptive term?

A common tactic of companies with deep pockets is to send a cease and desist letters to smaller shops in the hope of scaring them into believing that they can be sued to obtain a domain name and should just hand it over. It's your call whether to answer, especially if it's like the mark you cite above which seems to be descriptive. Best of luck to you.
