Team Jersey Trademarks

If I designed a jersey had them custom made for a team, must I register the name of the team and font as a trademark to protect my interest. The team is now trying to steal not only my intellectual property, but the jerseys I paid for.

Honestly, I have no idea. I don't know the context of the transaction. You created and paid for jerseys for a team. Were you paid? Were you donating the items? What was the understanding?
