Tax i.d number for tourist visa holder

Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to read this.
my question is very important and i need some information.
i heard that in case that you don't have ssn # you are able to get tax i.d number.

I'm not sure what it's mean, let's say a makeup artist visiting here in NYC / LA on a tourist visa gets an offeר to work on a set for 1 day, but the people there require a receipt from him for tax purposes, will the tax i.d number be any helpful?

also if someone can direct so i can read a bit about the tax i.d number and who's qualified to receive it?

A tax ID number is most frequently associated with a registered business or corporation.

thank you... but now i have another question

can i register a business on my self, for example i'm a makeup artist and i want to be able to give receipts to people here that want me to work with them
is it possible?

Why not register a corporation of some sort, an S-corp or LLC, etc. and give people receipts? Truth is that for foreign purposes they have their own sets of rules and requirements (if you're talking about not wanting to be double taxed.) You need to work that out with your contractor as well.
