I received a summons for court on 6/17. It is in regard to old credit card debt
in the amt. of $1214.68. I reside in Albany,NY.
The Summons states that "you need not physically go to the court to serve an answer." On the other side is a law firms info. The summons states"judgement will be taken against you for the relief demanded in the complaint, together with the costs of this action."
I am very humiliated as this notice was taped to the front door of my apartment bldg. I have a locked mailbox. The notice was blatently taped on the front door of my bldg. for all to see. There was no envelope, zilch.
I am a divorced/widowed woman and cannot pay this. The original amt. on the card was around $500-600.
What to do?
