I am being sued for a Credit Card debt in the amount of about $500. What are the chances that I will not have to pay this?
The debt is in the form of a department store credit card.
Account was opened in 1997.
Last payment was in 1999.
I live in the state of Iowa.

When I goto court, what are some things that I can site that will help me win.
I haven't actually been served yet. I noticed that the court records for my state listed a new filing about 6 days ago.
The manager of the apartment complex I live in said that somebody stopped by asking if I lived there, but she didn't release any information.
For the case to be valid, is it required that they actually serve me?

Thanks!

You should find out the statute of limitations in your state. If this date has passed, the debt is unenforceable. Is is liquidated or not?
