I was Sued by Midland credit even though the credit car (radio shack) was 4 and a half years old which exceeded the Statue of Limitations for an open account (3 years SOL on open accounts in Puerto Rico). Their excuse was that since they bought the account, it is not an open account anymore, but instead it is now a personal account which has a 15 years SOL. How can an account change from an open account to a personal account just because its sold to a third party? It seems to me that it defeats the purpose of the SOL.

Never listen to, or discuss an issue with your enemy.
Your enemy wishes but one thing, to decimate you.
The SOL stands, regardless of who owns the debt.
If you're sued, you defend on the SOL having expired.
That is, unless you've been duped into making a payment after the SOL expired.
If that's the case, the previous SOL no longer applies.
