We are looking in to developing a website that would serve our local landlords association. This website will provide a place for landlords to leave references (good or bad) for the tenants they rent to. We would host the site while the landowners will post to the site.

My question is could I be liable for what the landlords posted? I am a landlord as well and could use this service to prescreen tenants.
Thanks for your thoughts or suggestions.

im not sure as long as people arent slandering and everything is truthfull it should be legit. allthough posting personal info of other people on a public website would cause problems.

Not leagal advice.

I would find it hard to believe that you'd find yourself in a real lawsuit without first having caught wind of some problem. Provided you aren't editing posts and being the "publisher" of information, chances are you should be OK. Make sure to have a good Terms of Use for your forums and have it done properly by an attorney who knows what he is doing. Good luck with your site.
