I got a speeding ticket on 02/24/07 and on 03/30/07 I received an official notice telling me how to either plead guilty and where to pay the fine or in writing, plead not guilty and receive a trial date. I chose to plead not guilty and wrote to the court requesting a trial date. After waiting a little over a month, I received another notice on 05/05/07 not informing me of my trial date but a traffic initial hearing where I enter a plea of guilty or not guilty. My question is since I've already enter a not guilty plea and asked for a trial date is this a violation of my right to a speedy trial and can I ask the judge for a motion for dismissal based on the delay?
