Hi
I just sold a motorcycle, the buyer said they would go to DMV and transfer the title. I know the person's name and phone number. I don t have nay not information. Is there a way to know if the transfer has been made or can I report sale to dmv with the little information I have? I trusted the person at time of sale and dmv was closed, now I realize I was stupid and want to protect against any problems that could happen
What can and should I do now?
Thanks

Check with the DMV. They should be able to tell you who the vehicle is titled to, or at least if it is you to whom it is titled.

There is also a form you can fill out letting the state know that you have sold it in case he did not transfer it yet.

Before you sell a motor vehicle you must know your state's laws:

Now, the GOOD news:

In your state, MN, allows the sale to be reported online:

I suggest you do so IMMEDIATELY.

Title transfers must be done in person, however.

If the buyer kills a baby, injures an old man, or damages someone's $400,000 Maybach, you could be on the hook.
