I purchased a car from a car lot, the financer was under that particular car lot. Later I found out that the car lot had sold my contract to a different finance company. Is this legal?

It certainly is legal to sell debt, or paper you own to a willing SUCKER, err, argh, BUYER!
Which means, ABC FINANCE can sell your contract to XYZ LENDERS, and you pay them, or a debt servicer of their choice.
