Just to give some background: I was rear-ended by a teenage driver while at a full stop waiting for another car in front of me to turn left. After fighting with the insurance company for months they finally admitted fault and settled the property damage claim. They didnt give me even 1/2 the amount I needed to fix my car so for my injury claim I decided to hire a lawyer. I was taken out of work for 3 months due to the injury causing me to lose my job, causing me to get evicted from our apartment and relocate out of state to live with my parents. Because I'm a single mother of a small child and cant afford 3 months of no income, I asked my lawyer to please try a quick settlement even though it would mean less money than I deserve. Now I know settlements take time and I am patient to that. My lawyer has contacted the insurance company with a settlement offer, to which they refuse to respond. What I'm worried about is that it doesn't seem that my lawyer is very concerned. He isn't aggressive at all when it comes to following up with the insurance company and has NEVER called me back any of the times I have called him to ask questions or see what is happening with the case. The rare times that I have reached him in the office he seems irritated and rude that I called him. Mind you, I dont harrass him with calls 3 times a day. I maybe call him 1-2 times a month. I know lawyers are busy and as I said before these things take time, but I get the feeling my case is low on his priority list and I'm not sure he is handling the case in my best interest. I even think he might settle for whatever low amount the insurance company might offer just to get this case out of his hair. Should I look for a new lawyer?
