Personal Bankruptcy should i file for bancruptcy

Both me and my partner have debts totalling 10.000 including rent arrears, council tax arrears, catalogues and i have a private county court case against me which has now gone to a high court enforcment officer. We are both currently unemployed and cant afford to pay these debts. Is bancruptcy the only way for us? We have no assets and i hope to be in employment soon would that matter?

Also what can bailiffs take? i have two small children and dont want them to lose there toys.
