My friend and I had done something obviously stupid, shoplifting. We're both 16, I had a total of a little over $200, and my friend had a little under $200. We had a form signed out, banning us from the store and we're supposed to be mailed a court date. It's our first offense ever and it's the only one, I'm really worried about how it's going to turn out and I really want to know how this might turn out.

You need to tell your parents if you haven't already. They need to get you a lawyer - the lawyer will go over your options with you.

This is not as serious as you may think. Do as instructed above and when you talk to this Attorney ask about ACD or Diversion as possible plea options
