I was caught shoplifting at walmart. It was just over $20. I am trying to figure out what i should do because my court date is coming up, I am trying to get a suspended imposition so it is not on my record. I have no prior record, could someone please give me some advice?

First your going to need a Lawyer then ask this lawyer about Diversion if its available this should meet punishment criteria and keep a conviction off your record. I would also suggest you enroll, before court, into an Anti Shoplifting program. Judges really smile upon defendants who seek to correct mistakes early. This shows Judge remorse and will help him possibly grant this Diversion request. I know of such aprogram that my husband has connections with.
