Hello,

I'm in the process of starting up my own Website. This website will sell "leads" to contractors in order for them to get more work. I have leads in all counties of California that target certain business's.

On the excel spreadsheet I have it contains. Name of company, Address, Phone, Fax, Email, Person to Contact, and the website. Some companies dont have all, but i try to fill it out as much as i can for my customers.

Am I allowed to sell this list?

I also wanted to do email marketing, fax marketing, and postcard marketing for the list they would purchase. But I believe i would violate the Can Spam Act so i think im out of luck.

Can i get advice or legal advice regarding this matter? I would really appreciate it. Ive put alot of time into this project already. Thanks again!

You are creating a great business.

You've done the heavy lifting, an you're willing to risk your business by taking the opinions of strangers on the internet?

I think you might want to spend a few bucks and get yourself a legal opinion, just in case.

That said, what do Google, Yahoo, and Bing (aka, Microsoft) have in common?

They do EXACTLY what you're asking about doing.

They make millions harvesting and sharing data.
