Second Ticket After PJC in NC

Hi,

I got my first ticket in December 04 for reckless driving. I hired a lawyer and in May 05 was given a PJC, which the lawyer explained was the equivalent of the ticket being completely dropped (this despite my asking if it would "reappear" if I was given another ticket within three years).

Last month (July), I got another reckless driving ticket. I went to "drop-in" court and was given the option to have the ticket reduced to unsafe movement.

If I were to accept the reduction to unsafe movement, would I receive the points for both it and my first reckless driving citation? I've read conflicting reports, some saying the PJC "probation" period is defined by the judge, others saying that only the ticket with the higher point value is assessed, and a number of other explanations.

My main concern is increased insurance rates, so I'd really just like to know how many points I should expect if I accept an unsafe movement citation.

Thanks,
Josh
