running from abusive ex w/ baby

I am pregnant. The father may be my drug-addicted and extrememly abusive ex-boyfriend. i fear greatly for me and my unborn child's safety and texas law provides little protection for us without proof that he poses a threat. So i have decided to move to the state of Missouri before the child is born, and change my name. I expect him to hire a private detective to locate me. Will I be harder to find if i wait to change my name in the state of Missouri? How would i go about changinging my name and social security number in Missouri state? What other steps can i take to be as "untracable" as possible? And suppose he does find me, if i establish residency and the child is born there can he force us to move back to Texas? What is required by Missouri state to establish residency? I know it's a lot, but I'm desperate for help!

If you move before you deliver there is probably nothing he can do to stop you. I highly advise against filing for any sort of govenment assistance or child support, as paternity will have to be established.

I woudl stop all communication with him and just move.

I have no idea how you would change your identity legally.
