I gave my roomate's father a vehicle as a gift several months ago. His father let his other son use the vehicle and he received a ticket for running a red light. The vehicle is still under my name as I was asked to give my roomate's father time to change the vehicle to his name so the vehicle is legally mine and has been under my name the entire time. The ticket came under my name and my roomates brother has not paid the ticket. Can I rightfully take the vehicle back due to the ticket not being paid despite several requests and reminders that the ticket needs to be paid?

Did you sign over the title and hand the title to the roommate's father when you gave the car?

If yes, it's a done deal.

If you still have the title, then it wasn't a gift, it was just a loan and you are free to try to take the car back.

As for the ticket, if it was one of those photo cop tickets, go to the courthouse, show them it's not you in the picture, and provide the name and address of the driver.
