Remove live in boyfriend from home

Ex boyfriend has lived in my home for 37 days. He has not paid anything towards mortgage, utilities or even basic needs such as groceries. He refuses to leave the home that I own. Would I need to serve a notice to vacate before I can have him removed by police? Would I need to go through court proceedings if he refuses to leave after the 30 day notice to vacate my property?

You are probably going to have to treat him as a tenant and give him 30 days notice of termination and then evict him through the courts.

Life lesson from the school of hard knocks: Don't let boyfriends move in with you.

I figured as much also. Not an easy thing to do. Lesson learned for sure.

Is he violent or threatening you with harm?

If yes, you'll be able to get him out faster with an order of protection from domestic violence.

If he is being stubborn about moving before he can be evicted by going through the legal process, he can make your life miserable. If you can find a way to convince him to leave voluntarily, it should be quicker and easier. You can also make it less comfortable for the free-loader. Eat elsewhere instead of bringing food home for him to mooch, is one example.
