PRODUCT IDEA involving Artist/Author

I have a product idea that involves a famous artist/author. I would like to collaborate with him or his studio, but I want my idea protected.

Any suggestions?

Have the artist agree to sign a non-disclosure and non-compete. Probably won't happen if the artist is famous. The other way is, if you have something in mind, create a prototype and file a provisional patent. Go to the artist and negotiate by saying "it's my way or I'll get some other great artist. " I don't know the details so this is just an off-the-cuff answer.
