I have a child with someone that I have never been married to. He signed a contract with a private school that stated he would pay for the school year even if she withdrew form the school. I moved out of state and took her with me. The school has now hired a lawyer to take both of us to court for a contract complaint. I asked for a copy of the contract and my name is no where on it. How can I be held liable?

fair guess

If there was a contract complaint filed already, you better hire a lawyer yourself to defend you. Reactions would entirely depend on the allegations. For now, I can speculate that by reason that you have the legal responsibility in rearing for the child, that is why you are implicated. But you have a bunch of defenses.
