POD Beneficiary

I was made POD Beneficiary by a woman I took care of for a year.
She passed away I received death certificate went to bank and they told me I had to wait 24 to 48 hours there is a legal hold on the account.
What does this mean?
I thought POD Beneficiary accounts were straightforward cut and dry

What does this mean?

Sorry, but I'm having trouble understand why "wait 24 to 48 hours" is hard to understand.

Also, if Person A tells you something that you don't understand, the best way to gain further understanding is to as Person A to clarify. Asking a bunch of anonymous stranger on the internet isn't likely to be productive.
