Was arrested bonded out paid the fine did the community hours saw the prob officer did everything they told me todo probation time is over I made a dumb mistake now I can't get a job I am only 18 years old trying to go to a university
What makes you believe you cannot get a job because of the petty theft arrest? A lot of people are having a hard time getting a job these days. Have you been told by prospective employers this is the reason you weren't hired?
Are the jobs you're applying for have any relationship to the reason for your arrest (petty theft)? (Such as applying to a bank where money is handled with a theft record) You might apply for jobs where theft is not so much of a concern.
I know there are more than one theft data base but the "main" one seems to be the National Retail Database. I don't know how old the OP was when the theft was committed (though OP notes they are currently 18) but the National Retail Database does not put anyone in it under 18 at the time of the theft.
I received. A fine that was paid. My probation is over I did my community hours. My understanding was it would not show on my record and I had just turned 17
I still don't believe we have enough information to say but you might talk to an attorney & see what they think about being able to apply for some type of "non-disclosure" of the offense.

Was your case part of a ACD or Diversion program? If so you are correct there should be no conviction record. If it was not then yes there is a record and you can wait around 7 years to have it expunged. Who told you there would be no record and do you know why they said that? I deal with these issues everyday and previous posts are correct you have not given us enough info. By the way it was unwise to name store on Public forum
OP, you never did answer shrinkmaster's questions in post #2 - therefore, don't have enough information to tell you any more than we have. You can come back with more information or talk to an attorney.
Sorry i never done his before like i said dumb mistake.what do I know I don't know what ACD is . THe judge sent me to a specific place to do my community service . My court appointed lawyer never showed up and never returned my calls so I was solely on my. Own.
