Parole, Probation parole relocation

My friend was released from prison in January 2010, but instead of being released in Riverside Co. where he lives and works now, he was released in LA county where he lived about 8 years ago. Every thing was fine they were letting him live and work in Riverside but he would report to LA once a month. On his third month of reporting to LA, they told him he could not go home and They put him in a Sober house in LA. He had no warning so that he could notify his employers and only had the clothes on his back. They will not give him any idea when they will let him go home. Within the first two weeks of being out someone from the LA Parole office drove to Riverside to check out his home and three days ago some one from Riverside went to approve it also. Does he have any options?

He needs to talk about his options with the parole supervisor. He is still in custody of the CA state penal system.

why did they put him in a sober house? Did he get caught drinking or something?
