Parents go to nursing home. Can the state take their home if owned by someone else?

My parents name is on the deed of a home that I purchased for them because it was required by the 55+ community.
My name is also on the deed.

If they go to a nursing home, can the state take away their existing home even though I bought it?

Yes they can. But you may be able to get around it. Consult an attorney, shouldn't cost much.
