order of execution

Mother died in 1994. Executor, my sister, had myself and my other sister deed minerals to her shortly after her death on attorney's advice. Will was probated in 1995. Executor then asked if we were interested in minerals and deeded one set back to me.(there were two sets of minerals) Attorney incorrectly identified minerals in deed. Subsequent events, oil company interest, identified discrepancy. Question: Was it legal for my sister and I to convey interest to my other sister(executor) previous to the probate of the will.
