My license was suspended in Feb.2007 for an "Open Intoxicants in Vehicle" violation I incurred in March of 1999, of which I was the passenger in the vehicle, not the driver! The police officer who pulled us over directed me to empty the open beer container on the ground and wrote me a ticket. I went to court on the ticket and having never been seen by the judge, was told by the court clerk at the window to just pay $150.00 within a week or go to jail for 5 days!! Astonished and angry I never went back and had no correspondence from the township in which this incident happened...Until my license suspension last February! I was wondering, is there a statute of limitations on this "misdemeanor" charge or am I just out of the money spent to rectify this situation? Also, was it legal for them to suspend my license in the first place?
