Am 19 years old. Pulled over for busted tail light. Didn't have ID on me. Was searched. Gave consent to have my truck searched. My brother used it all week before I got it. He had left a half full container of alcohol on the back seat and didn't tell me before he gave me back the truck. Cops found it and wrote me up an open alcohol container violation. I honestly had no knowledge it was in there. Is there anything I can do to protest it? What are the consequences? I go to a coast guard regulated academy. Will this violation prevent me from getting a coast guard issued liscense upon graduation? Thanks for any response.
