How likely is it to get tracked down from Omegle?

Here is situation.....a friend of mine was in "unmoderated" video chat with what appeared to be "twenty-something" girl. When he was matched with said "girl" she was ALREADY showing breasts. There was no "coercian" at all. He was exposed for a short time as well and she did take off her underwear for a few seconds. After 3-4 mins of the chat, she says she is 14, and my friend IMMEDIATELY disconnects from chat.

Direct Questions:

1. This was Unmoderated chat, so from what we understand, nothing here is monitored or recorded (unless user recorded).
2. My friend is worried it was a "sting", but I think not, people in "stings" do not expose themselves.
3. How video chat lasted 3-4 mins and he disconnected as soon as she mentioned ANYTHING about being underage, does intent matter here? He wasn't looking for this one little bit.
4. He didn't upload/download anything just live stream.....everything we find online about this sort of thing, and people getting caught and prosecuted is directed at people that upload and/or download images and/or set up meetings, etc........
5. When he saw that she said she was underage, he immediately disconnected despite her saying "dont hangup"....I'm thinking it might possibly have even been a scam. 6. What are the chances this goes anywhere at all, since its been almost 7 weeks now, can I tell him to calm the hell down a bit, he is very anxious as he feels he was setup or tricked....he has no desire for any kind of this activity at all, the good news is he hasn't been on omegle in 7 weeks since it happened and plans to never go back

I gotta believe this happens thousands of times a day on sites like this.....I've told him to stay off the internet and its been 7 weeks already, just stay off permanently for stuff like this and it will likely blow over and move on.
 
Your friend needs to not indulge strangers showing their naked body to them. No good can come from it. It matters NOT if he believes them to be over 18 or if they told him they were over 18. He will have committed a serious felony. Further, even if it is not a "sting" there are unscrupulous people who will try to blackmail him over the issue as if it were.

Tell your "friend" to take a shower, wash his hair, get a job and move out of mommy's basement and he will perhaps meet a woman in IRL to "get close to".
 
Keep your mind occupied with clean thoughts.
Keep your hands dirty from doing honest work.
That MIGHT help one from indulging in careless bahaviors and/or naughty pursuits.
 
I don't think you'll have anyone "coming after" you for what I read above.....I think with the vast volume of this type of thing happening everyday the police and DA's that have limited resources are much more likely to use them on folks that take things further than just a "mistake" on a video chat and probably if something was going to happen from this one episode you'd probably have known about it already or would shortly.........however, this all being said, I agree with what everyone else has said here to you....tell your "friend" to stay off the internet here, and I think they can safely move one with their life......look for real life interactions, not internet flings with people you cannot verify their identity or age

Don't be so naive. The owners of ANY website have the ability to see and record EVERYTHING that is going on, even if they never make an appearance.

And a user can easily be tracked down by his IP address if his crime is serious enough to warrant the involvement of law enforcement.

I know some of the local cops. They will get hits from people who access known child porn sites that appear to be from the local ISPs and then get search warrants to investigate.
