Notice of Termination

In regards to Civil Code 1946.1(b)(c) If a tenant resides at a residence for less than one year at the time a 30 day notice is served but,will be a year plus after the expiration of the termination notice date,which is required a 30 day or a 60 day notice of termination?

I don't know which state this code is from. I'm assuming this is a renewal? It would seem to me that the logical date to use would be the term, from date of entry to date of termination/expiration.
