I'm on the Board of Directors of a 501 (c) (3) organization (a Humane Society). Recently we were planning a fundraiser using a house that was on the market. We intended to decorate it for Christmas and sell art and crafts there. The owner's insurance agent didn't like the idea so the owner asked us to sign a waiver saying we would be responsible for any injuries to people going through the place, as well as damage to the property.

Some of us were not crazy about doing that, but two members said we would have no PERSONAL liability because we're incorporated. I'm not so sure that's true and thought I'd ask. Fortunately (in my opinion), the house turned out to have too many problems (including numerous leaks in the gas pipes), so we cancelled the fundraiser before we got started. However, I'd like to know about the possible liability for future reference. Thanks for any info.
