Tenants said all their stuff is out. I have asked them for the keys for three days and no response. I know they aren't living there so can I just check the place and if it is empty change the locks and start cleaning. Yes we have a court date for nonpayment. But I know they are gone just won't give the keys back.

You will avoid any issues if you patiently wait for your court date.
If you enter now, it could be used against you later, in court.
As a famous woman once said before a Congressional Committee, "At this point, what difference does it make?"

In your case, mate, it'll make one hell of a difference if you want to prevail in court.
