Yesterday I was pulled over while driving through a parking lot. I did not have any insurance and I ended up getting a very spendy insurance ticket.
Do you have to have insurance to drive in a parking lot???

If your state has mandatory insurance, which I believe most (though not all) states do, then you must have insurance to drive in a parking lot, to the parking lot, home from the parking lot, and anywhere else except perhaps your own driveway.

as cbg says, most state traffic laws define their areas of appliccability not only to public roads but also to parking lots and other areas that are private, but accessible by the public.
