No auto insurance ticket in nj?

a police officer pulled me over because he ran my plate and my registration had expired. He asked for my insurance and when i looked at my card i realized my insurance was 6 months expired. I got a ticket for no registration and no insurance and my car was impounded. The police officer was nice and he told me he wouldn't push anything on me. The next morning i paid for car insurance and it was active imediatley. I also got a new registration and got my car out of impound. This was an honest mistake and I never was without insurance my whole driving career until now. I got an attorney the next day. He put in a not guilty plea in for me for the insurance ticket Does anyone know what im looking at here realistically?
