Alcohol & Drugs: DUI, DWI need clarification

wondering if somebody could clarify something for me. my sister was arrested for 1st offense (of anything) dui in california. she hit a car-no injuries to other party. her bac blew extremely high because of acid reflux medication she was on. her sentence was this-1 year dui classes 3x week. 1 year aa classes 3x week. 300 hours community service, loss of license for a period of months, and major fines. does this sound right for a first time offense? while it seems steep to me, i'm wondering if this may be a sentence for someone who has more than this one offense on their record. she claims her record is clean and as far as i know it is. any advice? i'm just very very concerned about her well being right now as she is trying to figure out how to pay for this, attend classes, and work. thanks for the help-

Yes the sentencing was fair what made it such a big deal was the accident
