name change with felony plea bargain Sentencing, Plea Bargains

I am planning on starting my own business soon and am curious if I can have my name changed before I do (it's a girls name and I'm not a female) I have a felony plea bargain from 5 years ago, clean criminal record before and since, no other charges, debts, liens, probation or parole. I live in the state of maine, the felony was in maryland. I don't really care if the record transfers to the new name, all I want is to be able to do the business licence, taxes, ect with a different name, I don't go by my birth name anyway and just want to get it changed.
