My brother stole my identity!

Hello, I need advise please! My brother stole my ss# about 5 years ago and ran my credit into the ground about $20,000 from credit cards and cell phones. Is there a way to get this off my credit report without pressing charges and throwing him in jail? He openly admits to doing it, however, paying it off still leaves my credit a mess. I was told by the phone company that the only way they will have it taken off my credit report was with papers of proof that I pressed charges or filed that my identity was stolen. Also, he didn't even try to hide it, his name and address are all over everything! Ahhh! I am so mad, but I still don't want to see my own brother in prison...and put there by me....Help, Libby
