My 19 yr old daughter was arrested

This is what I know...She was with her boyfriend, he was driving her car, they were pulled over by the police because he said the tint on the car was 'too dark' (it is within legal limits). The boyfriend now states that he told her he had a suspended license (she doesn't not remember this conversation). I'm not sure why but the officer searched her purse and she apparently was holding a friend of her boyfriends bag of a couple pills each of methadone and xanax. The 'friend' apparently has a prescription for these and her boyfriend told her to put them in her purse until they saw him the following day (so they could return them). Do I hire an attorney now or does she have to go to arraignment first?
