I was pulled over for my "altered" exhaust. It so happened that it was my 18th birthday. What a present...
My passenger used an illegal ID to buy alcohol for himself. He put it in my hatch, clear in view. Another car, person was 22,bought alcohol as well. They were headed to a get together and I was taking my passenger. I had no intent of drinking nor had I consumed any alcohol.
We were pulled over for exhaust. they found alcohol. Officer did not give me breathalizer test. He knew that I was entirely sober. They made us pour out all of the alcohol. He read me my rights but made no arrest. I was very cooperative, kind, and shocked as I believed I was allowed to transport at 18 (no open container) hence my 18th bday.
Gave me altered exhaust citation as well as second degree misdmr. possession of alcohol under 21.
I have an attorney and they met up at the pre trial in August. It is now February with no future date posted yet. Lawyer said it normally doesn't take this long.
* Title of car is also not in my name nor was. Under my Mothers for now.
I have been going to college and am awaiting to join the National Guard. I have a signed paper from the Cpt. stating my intentions.
