After being discharged from active duty for medical reasons my active pay continued. I reported the problem to my chain of command but payments continued for several months.
After payments stopped I heard nothing about it for 3 years, now I have been contacted and told I owe roughly $10,000.
I do not have to ability to pay, would a chapter 7 bankruptcy remove the debt or is money owed the military exempt? (I have other bills as well but nothing beyond my ability without the 10k hanging over my head.)
