I belong to a small golf organization. Several years ago, an entire board resigned leaving the organization and its finances in shambles. The succeding board never filed any actions against the resigning board. These persons went on to publicly denounce the organization. One of these persons, the past, resigned president who was very injurious to the organization has applied for membership after a 3 year lapse. Our bylaws only require an application for membership-no review process. Does the present board have any rights to exclude membership to this person based on prior injurious acts feeling that this person would be a negative influence on the entire membership? Can the present board file disciplinary actions, for past infractions after a 3 year period?
Thanks.
