I was employed as a podiatric surgeon by a local hospital. In my contract the hospital agreed to pay for my malpractice insurance. I was subsequently terminated for reasons not related to my performance after which the insurer pursued me for nonpayment - payments which should have been made during my contract. What's my next move?

Is the insurer's contract with you or with the hospital?

If with you, pay it and send the bill to the hospital for them to be reimbursed pursuant to your agreement. If they don't reimburse you, sue them for breach of the agreement.

If with the hospital, advise the insurer to contact the hospital for payment.
